My name is Tony Lenderyou and yes, it is my real name!

In 1983, I started my career in mortgages. In 1987, I joined the Leeds Permanent Building Society in Newcastle. I attained my first appointment as a Branch Manager at Whitehaven Branch in 1990 and was promoted to Hartlepool in 1991. Following the Leeds merger with the Halifax I decided that the new regime was not for me and armed with a voluntary redundancy package went off to look for pastures new.

A short time with a mortgage packager was followed by my appointment as Business Development Manager with the Newcastle based Universal Building Society in 1997.

Leaving Universal in 2003 to set up on my own was a tough decision but I am convinced the right one. I get great job satisfaction from being able to provide others the support they need when making, what is likely to be, their biggest financial commitment.

So as you can see I have over 30 years experience of mortgages within the financial services industry, the past 17 of which have been spent running my own business Tony Lenderyou Mortgages, now Lenderyou Mortgages Ltd.

I live locally and very much enjoy all that the North East has to offer. I relax by spending time in the countryside. I also love to play golf (badly), and have just become President of Ponteland Rugby Club where I have been involved as a volunteer and committee member for over 13 years.

My name is Rob Lenderyou, son of Tony.

I have worked in the financial services industry since July 2017, where I was first employed at Tony Lenderyou Mortgages as a Trainee Mortgage and Protection Advisor. During this time, I developed my knowledge of the mortgage industry whilst studying and achieving the CeMAP qualification. I found the industry very exciting and enjoyed learning more about mortgages and protection.

I left the family business in 2018 to pursue other avenues, the first of which was working for Barclaycard in Stockton-on-Tees as a Corporate Solutions Executive. During this time, I managed a client bank of large firms and their credit facilities. During this role I developed sales experience and furthered my knowledge of the banking world.

After a year commuting to Stockton, I looked for an opportunity closer to home due to living in Newcastle. I found myself working as a Consulting Service Delivery Associate at Ernst & Young in Newcastle City Centre. I was assigned to a number of projects, for multinational banking and insurance firms, during which I worked within the anti-money laundering, suitability, and compliance space. Notably I spent 16 months on a mortgage litigation project conducting reviews of repossession journeys and assessing their fairness for the client’s customers.

Spending just under 2 and a half years working at EY I re-joined TLM business to start my advising career and make the process of house buying as easy as possible for our clients.

Prior to my time working in the finance sector, I studied BSc Business and Management (Hons) at Aston University in Birmingham, where I earned an upper second-class certification in 2017.

In addition to my previous studies and working life, I have a keen passion for Rugby and have played for over 20 years. I am currently playing for Blaydon RFC in the National 2 North league.
